DANCEHALL

From the Island's very own creativity. Which started at partys and grew into the style we all know and love today, this is Dancehall:

Dancehall originates from the music genre by the same name, which originated in Jamaica in the late 1970s. Dancehall is heavily influenced by Jamaican culture and music genre's. It is known for its high-energy, agile movements, and fast footwork. It all started at the first Dancehall party's. Dancers would gather at the party's and create their own unique dance moves, inspired by the music. Over time, these dance moves became popularized and evolved into the dance style it is today.

In the 1980s, Dancehall became more widely recognized as a legitimate dance style. Dancers began to involve more acrobatic moves into their choreos and freestyles. Along the 1990s and 2000s, it started to intertwine with various different style's. Dancers of their own respective practises began to mingle with each other and took inspiration from a variety of moves, to use them for their own development.

Today, Dancehall can be found all over the world, taught by those who use modern views, but also keep it down to the roots. For the ones that love the culture and evolve & grown together with it. You can be part of that through follwing our Dancehall classes!
